TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF DANCE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
KITTY SHARP, VAN R. AULT, AND MARY WILLIE
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SUMMER STUDY

The Tennessee Association of Dance offers three $500.00 merit scholarships to young non-professional dancers with professional potential. Each award will provide the recipient an opportunity for study during the summer immediately following award date.Award recipients must commit to a minimum of 2 weeks in a TAD approved program.

Applicants must submit required materials on time, must be registered for the Annual Conference, and must participate in the scholarship audition class held during the Annual Conference.The class will be conducted by members of the Annual Conference faculty and will provide applicants an opportunity to demonstrate proficiency in the discipline(s) of ballet, modern, or jazz technique.Applicants who dance on pointe should bring their pointe shoes.

The Scholarship audition class will be cancelled if fewer than five make application.Maximum class size is 25 so apply early.The Tennessee Association of Dance reserves the right not to make the Scholarship Awards.

ELIGIBILITY

TAD member (dues paid or renewed since 7/1/08) and Tennessee resident
Age between 14 and 22 years
Non-professional status as a dancer (not earning a living as a performer or teacher)
Technical proficiency in the discipline(s) of ballet, modern, OR jazz
Minimum one-day conference registration and participation in the scholarship audition class
Must not have been awarded one of these scholarships in the last four years.For example: If your were awarded a scholarship in October 2005, you are eligible to apply again in 2010.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

Applicants must submit the following by the September 15 deadline:

Completed application form
Two reference letters (one from a dance instructor, one from another, such as academic teacher or employer)
$20 application fee
