Tennessee Dance Festival Spotlight Concert
For professional, pre-professional, university dance companies and independent solo performers! Applications are now being accepted to perform at the Festival Spotlight Concert of the 2017 Tennessee Dance Festival. The Festival Spotlight Concert will be Saturday evening at 8 p.m. at the Middle Tennessee State University in the Tucker Theater.
Dance Connections! Members Showcase
For TAD Members and organizations! Applications are now being accepted to perform in the Dance Connections Members Showcase of the 2017 Tennessee Dance Festival. Dance Connections will be Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State University in the Tucker Theater.
CATHIE AULT KASCH STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHY PROJECT
The Cathie Ault Kasch Student Choreography Project is designed to encourage leadership, creativity, and collaboration for TAD student members between the ages of 16-22 during the Tennessee Dance Festival. The adjudicated lunchtime concert provides a performing outlet to support their choreographic work. The feedback session, led by the same faculty adjudicators, is designed to give choreographer's objective, supportive input on their work and direction to hone their abilities. Monetary awards will be given to the top three works as adjudicated on the Saturday concert.
Changes to our format this year.
- Only the first 9 submissions will be accepted for the Cathie Ault Kasch Student Choreography Project this year
- All dancers must be registered for the festival before submissions are considered complete.
- Each of the 9 pieces will be presented on the Tucker stage on Saturday, September 30 from 2-3:30 and will be immediately followed by the adjudicators’ feedback
- The three top placing pieces will be invited to perform on the Tucker stage during the Dance Connections! Members Showcase on Sunday, October 1 from 1:30-2:30

SUMMER STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS
Three $500 Scholarships for summer study are awarded each year to dance students between the ages of 14-22. The Kitty Sharp Scholarship, Van R. Ault Scholarship, and Mary Willie Scholarship are awarded at TAD's annual Tennessee Dance Festival. Festival Faculty Members from outside Tennessee adjudicate an audition class in ballet, modern, and jazz technique. Each winner must use his/her award to attend an intensive national summer program. Some programs attended by previous winners are UNC North Carolina School of the Arts, American Dance Festival, Alonzo King LINES Ballet School, Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Bates Dance Festival, and the Julliard School.
This year we will be holding college auditions along side our Summer Study Scholarship Auditions! This will be followed by a college expo in the Tucker Theatre during our Saturday lunch break.
